In Scrum, who are the Product Owner, the Scrum Master and the Developers?
Options
- PO sets priorities; SM coaches the process; Devs build (Correct option)
- The Product Owner writes the code; the SM is boss
- The Scrum Master sets priorities; Developers do budgets
- They are three types of meetings held in a sprint
Answer
Product Owner: decides what to build and its priority. Scrum Master: coaches the team on the process and removes blockers. Developers: build the product increment
Why
Scrum has three accountabilities:
- Product Owner: owns the product backlog and decides priorities (value for the customer).
- Scrum Master: a servant leader who helps the team follow Scrum and removes obstacles; not a manager.
- Developers: the people doing the work (design, code, test) and who decide how to build it.
The whole team is self-organizing.
Remember
PO = what and why. Developers = how. SM = process helper.
